Travel to Macau, China (Part 6) Exploring the Historic District (Updated August 2020)

 Good morning!

Today, I’ll be introducing the historic district of Macau.

This area retains the atmosphere of the colonial era, with streets that echo the past. You might find yourself reminded of Portugal, even if just a little!

It’s a place where you can still see remnants of the streets imagined in Hong Kong. Interestingly, almost every balcony in the buildings is covered with bars.

There’s a charming bakery with an almost nostalgic feel, like a traditional candy shop. Despite its open, unassuming storefront, the bread here is delicious—a pleasant surprise!

I came across a restaurant with "Unagi" (eel) written in Japanese, but the menu also included ramen. Quite an unexpected combination!

There’s also a bicycle with artistic designs that almost seems to say, "Use me in real life!" It’s a functional piece of art.

As for the religious aspect, I couldn’t quite decipher what was written on the walls, but it definitely had a spiritual vibe.

At first glance, I thought a certain building was part of an art installation, but it turns out people actually live there! The contrast between the old and new in this town is so stark that it’s a bit bewildering.
