Today I uploaded a photo of the Komai family residence that I visited the other day! !

This residence was built as the private residence of Dr. Takashi Komai, a professor emeritus at Kyoto University who made great achievements in animal genetics and animal taxonomy.

It was built between the end of the Taisho period and the beginning of the Showa period, and is located in a quiet residential area of Kitashirakawa, known as the ``scholar village,'' and is a Western-style building with a spacious garden to the east overlooking Mt. Hiei. This house was built in 1929 as the private residence of Dr. Takashi Komai (1886-1972), professor emeritus of Kyoto University, who made great achievements in animal genetics and animal taxonomy in Japan, and was designed by Vories Architectural Office.

本日は先日行きました駒井家住宅の写真をアップいたしました！！

動物遺伝学、動物分類学に大きな功績を残した、京都大学名誉教授・駒井卓博士の私邸として建てらた住宅です。

大正末期から昭和初期に形成され、「学者村」といわれた北白川の閑静な住宅地にあって、比叡山が一望される東に庭を広く設けた洋館建築です。わが国の動物遺伝学、動物分類学に大きな功績を残した、京都大学名誉教授・駒井卓博士（1886～1972）の私邸として、昭和2年、ヴォーリズ建築事務所の設計により建てらた住宅です。
