Discover the Flavors of Croatia in Tokyo!

Hello, this is Baum Project.

Today, I’m excited to introduce Dobro, a rare Croatian restaurant located in Tokyo’s Yaesu district.
Croatia, where Mediterranean and Balkan cultures intertwine, has a unique food culture that has always fascinated me.

This time, I finally had the chance to try their popular Konoba Set, and I’m here to give you a full and detailed review!

◆ What Is the Konoba Set?

“Konoba” refers to a traditional tavern in Croatia’s Dalmatia region.
The Konoba Set at Dobro brings together classic dishes typically served at such taverns, allowing you to enjoy the essence of Dalmatian cuisine in one course.

The set I ordered included:

  • Octopus and Potato Salad — a Dalmatian specialty

  • Liver Mousse with Honey Sauce

  • Croatian-Style Terrine

  • Pasta with Paprika Cream Sauce

  • Ćevapčići (spiced Balkan-style minced meat)

  • Pašticada (a traditional Dalmatian beef stew)

It’s a wonderful lineup that showcases Croatia’s rich culinary culture from appetizers to main dishes.

◆ Appetizers That Bring the Dalmatian Sea to the Table

Let’s start with the appetizer plate.

Octopus and Potato Salad

A true taste of the Dalmatian coast.
The octopus is tender, and the combination of olive oil and lemon creates a refreshing Mediterranean flavor.

Liver Mousse with Honey Sauce

Rich liver mousse is perfectly balanced with the gentle sweetness of honey.
A unique harmony that pairs beautifully with wine.

Croatian-Style Terrine

Featuring distinctive spices and ingredients, this terrine captures the subtle yet deep flavors of Eastern Europe.

The appetizers alone already made me feel like I had traveled to Croatia.

◆ The Pasta with Paprika Cream Sauce Was Outstanding

Next came the pasta with paprika cream sauce—and it was incredible.

The sweetness and aroma of the paprika were highlighted beautifully, creating a smooth, mild flavor that was very easy to enjoy.
Paprika is widely used in Croatian cuisine, and this dish showcases that perfectly.

◆ Main Dishes: Ćevapčići and Pašticada

The Konoba Set includes two hearty main dishes.

Ćevapčići

A famous meat dish from the Balkan region.
The spices bring out the full flavor of the meat, making it satisfying and full of character.

Pašticada

A traditional Dalmatian beef stew.
Its sweet and tangy sauce gives it a deep, comforting flavor—like enjoying a home-cooked Croatian meal.

◆ A Place Where You Can Truly Experience Croatia in Tokyo

The atmosphere inside Dobro is calm and welcoming, almost as if you’ve stepped into a restaurant along the Adriatic coast.

The Konoba Set offered a rich, well-rounded culinary journey through Croatia, and I was impressed by how authentic everything felt.

◆ Conclusion

Dobro in Tokyo’s Yaesu district is an excellent place to enjoy authentic Croatian cuisine.
Whether you want to feel like you're traveling, love Mediterranean flavors, or simply enjoy discovering new cuisines, this restaurant is a must-visit.

If you get the chance, be sure to stop by and experience the taste of Croatia for yourself!
