A Taste of South America at Matsuya in Esaka! Trying the Limited-Time Chimichurri Sauce Thick-Cut Pork Grill

Today, I visited Matsuya in Esaka, Suita City, Osaka.

Matsuya is best known for its beef bowls and set meals, but its limited-time seasonal offerings are often just as interesting.

This time, I tried the limited-edition Chimichurri Sauce Thick-Cut Pork Grill (1,180 yen).

It was a unique dish with an international flair that you would not normally expect to find at a popular Japanese fast-food chain.

What Is Chimichurri Sauce?

Before discussing the dish itself, let's talk about the star ingredient: chimichurri sauce.

Chimichurri is a traditional sauce commonly enjoyed in countries such as Argentina and Uruguay. It is typically made with parsley, garlic, oregano, vinegar, and various herbs, giving it a fresh and vibrant flavor.

It is especially popular as a companion to grilled meats and steaks.

The fact that such an authentic South American sauce is available at Matsuya was quite surprising.

When the dish arrived, the first thing that caught my attention was the impressive thickness of the pork.

It immediately looked hearty and satisfying.

Thick, Juicy Pork

The pork was generously thick yet surprisingly tender.

Each bite delivered rich meaty flavor, and the grilling process added a delicious smoky aroma.

The balance between lean meat and fat was excellent, making the dish enjoyable from the first bite to the last.

Refreshing Chimichurri Sauce

The true highlight of this dish is undoubtedly the chimichurri sauce.

The fresh aroma of herbs and parsley is complemented by the richness of garlic and a pleasant tangy acidity.

These flavors help cut through the richness of the pork, creating a refreshing overall taste.

Although it feels like something you might find in a South American restaurant, it pairs remarkably well with Japanese rice.

The combination of juicy pork and vibrant sauce was excellent.

The Satisfaction You Expect from Matsuya

The portion size was generous, leaving me completely satisfied after the meal.

While Matsuya’s classic beef bowls and set meals are always reliable, one of the chain's greatest strengths is its willingness to introduce creative and adventurous limited-time dishes.

This menu item was a great example of that spirit.

Final Thoughts

The Chimichurri Sauce Thick-Cut Pork Grill (1,180 yen) at Matsuya Esaka offers:

  • Thick and satisfying grilled pork
  • A refreshing South American-style chimichurri sauce
  • Excellent compatibility with rice
  • The excitement of a limited-time special menu item

If you're looking for something different from Matsuya's regular menu or simply enjoy meat dishes, this is definitely worth trying.

Be sure to visit while it is still available.

Until next time, see you in the next food report!
