Un magasin spécialisé dans l'anguille authentique et établi de longue date ! ! Chef de famille Shibatou (mis à jour en juillet 2018)

Hello!

Today’s feature is a grilled eel rice box (unajū).
(Updated July 2018)

Restaurant Name:
Honke Shibato
— A long-established restaurant with a 280-year history!!

Location:
2-5-2 Koraibashi, Chuo-ku, Osaka City

Dish Name: Lunch Set (Ohitsu-mamushi)

Includes: Umaki (eel rolled omelet), clear soup, appetizer, Uzaku (eel with cucumber in vinegar)
Price: ¥5,700

The appetizer was vinegar-marinated eel, offering a refreshing flavor while still allowing the richness of the eel to stand out.
The umaki was incredibly well-prepared — the rolled egg complemented the eel perfectly!
The ohitsu-mamushi was what my companion ordered, but it was apparently so delicious that they didn’t share a single bite, so unfortunately I can’t comment on the taste (tears!).

Dish Name: Osaka Mamushi (Ran)
Price: ¥5,420

According to the restaurant’s proprietress, “mamushi” refers to the method of steaming the eel between layers of rice — hence “ma-mushi” (meaning “interval steaming”).
The eel was very tasty, thick, and cooked thoroughly to a tender finish.
It had an outstanding aroma and flavor that simply can’t be replicated at conveyor belt sushi restaurants (sorry, kaiten sushi shops!).

This place is a well-known institution in Osaka, and the atmosphere was lively with many foreign visitors and more.
(A little pricey!!) Apparently, prices may vary slightly, and the staff will inform you about that when you make a reservation by phone — which was a little worrying!
