Updated: Every Friday (restaurant / travel)
Today, I’d like to introduce an okonomiyaki grilled over charcoal.
(Updated in February 2019)
Dish Name: Pork Yaki
Price: 550 yen The batter is fluffy, and the dish is prepared with care.
Dish Name: Champon Modern
Price: 800 yen It’s packed with plenty of seafood, and the fresh ocean scent is irresistible!!
This restaurant is unique because they use firewood as fuel to cook the okonomiyaki. Even though it was already past noon when I visited, the place was full and bustling with energy.
It seemed to be run by three women, and they were very kind, making it easy for first-time customers to enter.
Restaurant Name: Takasago
Location: 3-4-9 Wadasakicho, Hyogo-ku, Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture
Noka Roast & Grill is located on the upper floors of the hotel, offering a fantastic view of the city. The large windows provide a beautiful panorama of Osaka’s cityscape, making it an ideal spot for a romantic evening or a special dinner. As soon as I sat down, the staff welcomed me warmly, and the service was impeccable. It was a truly comfortable experience.
Menu: Dinner Semi-Buffet
Price: 6,100 yen
The main dish is ordered from the menu, while salads, appetizers, and desserts are served buffet-style. This allows you to enjoy a variety of dishes while maintaining the high quality of the main course, which is one of the highlights of this dining experience.
At the buffet corner, there was an array of fresh vegetables, light salads, and seasonal appetizers. The colorful appetizers were not only visually appealing but also had a refined taste. The smoked salmon salad, in particular, had a rich aroma and a refreshing acidity that enhanced my appetite with just one bite.
To finish the meal, I indulged in the plentiful dessert buffet. The selection included fruit tarts, chocolate mousse, and tiramisu—perfect for any sweet tooth. Each dessert was moderately sweet, offering a sophisticated flavor. My personal favorite was the fruit tart, generously topped with fresh fruit. The light cream and crisp tart crust were an excellent combination.

Today, I’d like to introduce the authentic sushi from Daiki Suisan—specifically, their premium Honmaguro Kama Toro (fatty tuna collar). Although this is a conveyor belt sushi restaurant, the quality of the ingredients is far superior to your typical 100-yen sushi chains.
The location can be a bit tricky to find, but if you walk about 4-5 minutes from the underground entrance of Hanshin Department Store toward the Rainbow Plaza, you’ll spot it on the left-hand side.
Despite the ongoing COVID-19 situation, I was expecting the restaurant to be less crowded, but it was actually bustling with customers, and there was even a line.
As soon as I put the sushi in my mouth, the fatty tuna melted on my tongue, releasing its rich flavor.

A nostalgic favorite! (haha)
Restaurant Name: Daiki Suisan (Whity Umeda Branch) Location: B1F Whity Umeda, 4-5 Komatsubara-cho, Kita-ku, Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture Business Hours: 11:00 AM – 10:00 PM
Since my last visit, they’ve added convenient features like a tablet for ordering and a special lane for delivering orders directly to your table. While it feels like they’re catering more to the general public now, the quality of the food remains excellent. I highly recommend giving it a try!
